Mike Kaskavage is the winner of the first running of RideMaxim – Ride to Adventure

Mike Kaskavage is the winner of the first running of RideMaxim – Ride to Adventure with an accumulated points total of 15000. Mike selected a jacket and a new tire of his choice, mounted and balanced, from Maxim Honda’s TireMax. I think with 15000 points he could really use that tire. All participants will remain registered but all point values will be zeroed out before the start of the next RideMaxim – Ride to Adventure challenge which begins July 11th.

The Maxim Honda RideMaxim - Ride to Adventure program is a FREE contest that asks the participants to complete specific rides, events and challenges to compete for prizes at the end of a given time period. The rider with the most accumulated points wins. The program consists of a list of rides, events or activities from which a rider can choose to complete. The rider will be required to present proof of the ride through photo evidence (pictures of the rider and bike at the destination point) or through gas receipts.  The rider will be responsible for all record keeping and final acceptance of the ride will be up to the contest judges at Maxim Honda.

A new rider can sign up for the program by registering at the link in the left hand column. Once you have logged in, go to your  account and click "manage profile" and fill out the information requested like the type of bike you have, the mileage and your driver’s license number. We also need your mailing address and phone number in case we need to contact you. You can also download and print out a hardcopy of the Rider Agreement that is also available on the left hand column of the RideMaxim.com web site. Please fill it out, sign it and turn it into Maxim Honda. This may take longer to get you registered than the direct method.

Once you are signed up you can log into the site to do several things. You can search for a ride. In this section you can view available rides that will earn you points. Clicking on an individual ride, on the rides page, will show you how many points the ride is worth and a map of where to go. You can also see a few pictures and get more detailed information about the ride. Each ride entry states a specific ride or task and will include instructions as to where to take a photograph to document the ride.

Taking Pictures
When taking pictures to document your ride, all you need is a camera or camera phone shot, taken at arm’s length, that catches part of the bike, part of the rider (you) and part of the background. The alternative to this is to have some passerby shoot a picture of you and your bike. The goal in all this is to gain a number of snap shots that show you and your bike out having fun as well as documenting the trip. Having just your bike in the shot is good too if that is all you have. We are trying to be as flexible as possible. We just need some type of proof that you were there with your bike. A gas receipt with the date of the ride is also a great piece of evidence along with your pictures.

Keeping Track of Your Rides
You can also log a ride you have taken. In this section the rider can add a completed ride to his or her ride list. Log into the web site, click “Rides” and click on the ride detail you have taken. Scroll to the bottom of the ride detail page and click the register link at the bottom of the window. We are working  to make this better by providing space for notes and an upload for pictures you have taken. For now we asked you to use it to keep a list of the rides you have taken and to keep your images as files or hard copies.

Prizes
You can see the prizes to be awarded on the Prizes page. Prizes will be awarded to the first three place finishers. First place finishers will get their choice of two items from the prize list. The second place finisher will get a choice of one item from the remaining prizes and the third place finisher will get one choice for the remaining items. At the end of the riding season, all top finishing riders names will go into a grand prize drawing for one final prize. Event T-shirts will be available for all participants.

We are hoping that everyone has a good time, that the competition is in good fun and that we can get your feedback so we can make the RideMaxim - Ride to Adventure program better and better. Please feel free to write if you have any questions.
